Bonnie

Hello there!

Bonnie Lowe here. This site is all about helping you to discover, master, and benefit from the best career strategies (hence the title, duh).

Together, we’ll go over everything you need to know and do to get hired, get noticed, and get ahead as you journey along your chosen career path.

It’s hard enough these days just to get (and keep) a job. To create and nurture a successful and fulfilling career is much more challenging! But it’s also incredibly more rewarding.

The trouble comes when people try to figure it out as they go.  And, just like guys who refuse to ask for directions when they’re lost, those people end up taking wrong turns, going in circles, and completely missing their desired destination.  Some don’t even realize how lost they are.

Don’t be one of those people. Your career journey can be so much easier, faster, and more rewarding if you get a little help. People who have already traveled the same road are happy to show you the way.

Think of this site as a GPS for your career.  Not one with an annoying voice that bitches at you if you miss a turn now and then. But a friendly, helpful navigation aid that will make it easier for you to get where you’re going. Even if you’re not quite sure yet about where you want to go.

In case you’re wondering, I’m not a current or former career counselor, recruiter, resume writer, HR maven, or other “officially certified guru.”  If you’re looking for advice from people with lots of letters and/or titles after their name, there are about 32,302,298 of them out here on the Internet. Some of them know what they’re talking about and offer terrific advice. But many of them haven’t had to find a real job or ace an interview in a hellova long time.

They’re “book-smart” whereas I’m “street smart.”  (Some say I’m street smartass, but they’re just jealous.)

I’ve been an official working stiff since my senior year in high school when I got my first job working part-time in a bank.  This was back in the dark ages when peeps in the bank basement filed actual paper checks (Gasp! No digital copies!?!) into customer folders (filing cabinet folders, mind you–no computers involved!).  Between then and now I’ve had 17 different jobs (and no, I’ve never been fired) and one brief stint as a small business owner (a downtown business with a physical store, not an Internet business like I’m playing with now). Each of those jobs was hard to win and I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way.

I’m still a working stiff (tho I’ve graduated from “string of jobs” to “fulfilling career”) and I’m happy to share both the knowledge I’ve gained through my own experiences and what I’m continually uncovering through relentless research about often-changing career strategies.

Take a look around and judge for yourself whether this site offers value for you. Comment on some posts. Make suggestions. Let me know what you think — good or bad.

If you’ve got a job interview coming up (congratulations!), be sure to check out my other website that’s all about the best job interview strategies.

Thanks again for stopping by. If you like it here, stick around; it’s only going to get better.  And tell all your cool friends!
